Level & Transit
Construction surveying and layout involves locating and marking the locations of the points necessary for building new structures, remodeling existing ones, and installing new equipment. This process is commonly known as giving line and grade. Layout work also requires the skilled use of specially designed tools such as the transit level, transit, and theodolite to establish line and level grade. Some of the tasks involved are marking a point; laying out and extending lines; plumbing a point; laying out an angle; plumbing a column; and doing building layouts. This course provides and introduction to layout and leveling instruments, as well as some refresher math required for use in combination with those instruments.
