A total station is a combination of several layout instruments. This course discusses the evolution of survey and layout instruments, and the advantages of using a total station for building layout over traditional methods. The process used to establish and calculate the location of points is covered as well as how to convert dimensions from one system of measurement to another. Participants will learn how to take dimensions from print and convert them to point coordinates. They will also learn how to calculate distance and angles of layout points.
